The right choice at the right time…

“Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work; you don’t give up.”
Anne Lamott
I think I’ve found my new favourite quote. A yummy, quotable quote that I can pull out any time. The key point of this one is “try to do the right thing”. Oh and the work bit. What are we doing as teachers if not trying to do the right thing? The right thing for each child, at that moment. I’m intrigued by the notion that we could be doing things with children to support their learning and it’s best practice and evidence-based and formative and engaging but possibly not what that child needs at that moment. I know we can’t know every moment, for every child, that we say and do is the right thing so I appreciate the quote.
